Norbert Steinhauser is a lot less emphatic about this affair between Rembrandt and Barbara. Remember, Rembrandt was not in the best of health and he suffered from depression, it is possible that the care Barbara bestowed on her husband's brother may have been interpreted by Rembrandt as romantic love.

I'm not saying an adulterous affair did not happen, all I am saying is that there is a big difference between gossip and fact. As for Rembrandt fathering one of her children - I doubt it.
