VAN DER BOSSCH, Eugène.

The driver of a racing type 22 with Lavocat et Marsaud body at Boulogne-sur-Mer in 1922. His riding mechanic was Raymond Tykoczinski who, much later, owned the ex-King Leopold III type 57C. See picture in Steinhauser’s “Ettore Bugatti L’Artisan de Molsheim, Tome 2, page 171.

Question :

Steinhauser lists "Vandenbossche" - Which is the right spelling?

TYKOCZINSKI, Jean.

Raymond’s son. He is pictured in B.23/1/51 (Spring 1960) at the wheel of his father’s 1926 type 37 (with the French reg. no 247 BV08. The car was said to have been rebuilt in 1936 and had a distinctive “waistline” running along the bonnet and bulkhead, “helmet” mudguards and an unusual headlamp mounting arrangement. It also had Bendix brakes, two Delco fuel pumps and its entirely new bodywork was painted metallic blue. His father was attempting to sell this car around this time giving his address as 24, Rue du Moulin, Charleville, Ardennes, France.

TYKOCZINSKI, Raymond.

A Frenchman who is pictured in Pierre Dumont’s “Bugatti – Thoroughbreds from Molsheim” as the riding mechanic in a Lavocat et Marsaud-bodied type 22 driven by Eugène Vanderbossch at Boulogne-sur-Mer on 29th July, 1922. He later owned a type 37 which was fully restored in 1936/7, a type 40 fitted with a Jean Bugatti roadster body still in its original colours of back and dark green with cream mouldings and the Ventoux-bodied ex-King Leopold type 57C with chassis no. 57690 and engine no. 491. He is pictured on page 44 of “Bugatti 57”. In the spring of 1960 he was offering the type 37 and a type 40 for the sale.
