This my first post on this remarquable site

I m curretly looking info about a gentleman who drove a Bugatti 35 in Belgium in year circa 1928. He was also responsible for the entry of Bouriano at Monaco in 1929. The former owner of his car was a chap clalled Minette

Welcome Robert. Perfectly reasonable request, just provide a bit more clarity as to the details. Are we talking about a single T35 owned by the Belgian gentleman (Benomi Barette?), driven by Bouriano at Monaco in 1929 and owned by Minnette; before or after the Belgian?

Do you know through which agent it was delivered and what year? Was it a new car delivered to the Belgian gentleman during or just before 1928? What kind of T35 - T ; C or TC(B)?

Thanks for providing another opportunity to dive into Conway when I get home this evening, unless Michael allready has the answer? Either way, welcome again, new blood makes it even better.

Kind Regards
Johan Buchner

Thanks all for your welcome

Minette was the firt owner of the car.
Barette bought the car former little known motorcycle driver

In 1929, he entered the car at Monaco for Bouriano.

Bugatti dealer in Belgium were De Buck and for a lesser part Reinartz

The car was a normal aspirated 35 (1991).

Now what size for engine had the car at Monaco ???

Bad news I'm afraid, apart from being able to confirm that Bouriano came 2nd in the 1929 inaugural Monaco Grand Prix, and 3rd in 1930, both times in a T35C (don't even know whether it was the same car), I have found nothing. No T35C was delivered to either De Buck or Reinartz (De Buck did receive the following : 06/26 T35T 4763/eng.4 ; 07/27 T35A 4908/eng.139A & 06/28 T35TC (B) 4924/eng.167T. Nothing for Reinhartz.)

Nor is Minette mentioned as a first owner, or Barette for that matter. Memoirs of a Bugatti Hunter by A Raffaelli lists all the early details of surviving cars, including the Monaco racers, but no entry for Bouriano's car(s?) So it would seem that this car, whatever its details may be, is no more.

Does anyone else perhaps know more?

Sorry.
Johan

Are you sure? I have #4763 returned to the factory, and converted to T39A renumbered #4802.
For Charlier I have only a T37A and a T43.

Extract from Graham Little's "Bugatti's People".

"MINETTE.

A Belgian competitor in a 5,000 km (?) hill-climb event held at Malchamps near Spa on 30th August, 1921".

No mention of Barette.

Robert, are they talking about a "T35T"/"T35B", or about a "2.3 litre Bugatti"?

The race that Graham s talking about is the Meeting of Spa. Various races were held ont the famous hill climb of Malchamps (a straight line with two corners). I ll check primary sources to try to find out which kind of car he race. It should be a old car in 1921
