Regarding photograph 4/14252 showing Cushman at Brooklands in 1922.

Cushman was an employee of Jarrott and Letts who were the main Bugatti distributor in the UK prior to the setting up of Col. Sorel's official London Bugatti agency.

The car in the picture is thought to be car 1317 and has been fitted with an extra large petrol tank for the JCC 200 mile race held on the 19th August, 1922.

I lent my Brescia book to a "Brescia" owning Doctor who has so-far failed to return it but, relying on my own notes, I believe Cushman drove this car in practice for the TT race in the Isle of Man earlier in the year but rolled it and did not take the start.

Like Raymond Mays, Cushman used 16-valve Bugattis to good effect in UK hill-climbs and sprints.

Possibly 908 ???? Pipes at side are carb inlets not exhaust stubs.
