As written in my introduction, I am a (Bugatti) book collector.

I've updated my list of books today and filtered out the Bugatti - and Bugatti-related books (result below):
My question to you: what is missing ? what is/are the most essential books on Bugatti I do not have ? and where to find them at a reasonable price ? I know several sites where to buy them but I am on a limited budget. Still with some patience I managed to buy the English version of the Bugatti Magnum (a perfect copy)a year ago for € 100,-That is the way I like to buy books

I am already curious about your reactions.

These 3 are nice to have, esspecially the Hucke/Kruta work, but you already have Magnum so it is not really a 'must have.' Borgeson is overrated but still worth having.

Most new books I order directly from either the publisher or the author, if that is not possible I order through Jeroen Vossen (OctagonFox - his website is linked to the Forum) I also order all out of print books exclusively from him . While I am also on a limited budget, finding bargains is of no importance to me. Instead I searched long and hard for an honourable book dealer of integrity. In Jeroen I have found such a man and I have been dealing with him since early 2008. After getting screwed over and/or ignored by quite a few others he is now the only book dealer I trust and the only one I am willing to deal with. Whether or not his prices count as bargains I cannot say. It's the content of his character that matters to me.

Johan, thanks for the kind words. Concernig prices, new books are at retail price or if possible below retail price. For rare and out of print books the prices are not fixed. If someone is looking for a specific book, please just ask. If not on stock, I will try to find you a copy. My mode of operation is as follows: give me the title, author and edition of the book you are searching for. I will try to find the book and if I do, I will give you a quote for the book. You are then free to say if you want to order it or not. No obligation to buy or costs if you don't order. Simple and easy.

My apologies, I only just realised that what I wrote could be interpreted to mean you over-charge for books - far from it. Of the 21 books you got for me since end 2007 I do not recall seeing any of them advertised for a lower price than what you charged me.

I remember the very first book you supplied to me was Magnum ; if you recall you located a copy in America for me, gave me a quote, I transferred the money to you and then, if I remember correctly, the book never arrived. I do remember though that you immediately offered to either refund me or to continue searching for another copy. I opted for the latter and a few weeks later you found a copy for less money than the original, a saving which you then passed on to me, a saving that just about covered the postage to South Africa.

A gesture on your part which I truly appreciated. Nearly two years later (my first e-mail to you is dated 1/10/2007) and I am still a very contented customer. Thank you.

Yesterday Bugatti books 49&50 arrived, today nr 51.
Sometimes I think I should stop, but almost every new book brings new pictures, insights,... ans lots of enjoyment. (and once in a while frustration as the books don't fit the bookshelves anymore and I need to build another bookcase; life is hard...)

Some of Johan and CGL Wales's recommendations have been followed up, some not (yet). Some books seem just unobtainable at a reasonable price (Laugier), some are such limited editions (Huet) you need to be lucky to obtain one. And often my bank account must recouperate first after buying too many books in a short time: when I see the right book at the right price I often cannot resist. But guess what happens when I see several like that in a short period of time... I try to focus on the older books. Sometimes non limited editions of new books get a bit cheaper after a while.
Jeroen's site is often consulted: it is a great resource of info. Sometimes Helge Hauk's Almanach.
There are only a few books that I guess will not add news (Boddy, Borgé, Hallums, Aubert) so I don't search for them actively. And I think most exhibition catalogues are more of the same.

But now for the first time I now bought a job lot of 30 issues of "Bugantics": will his be the start of another addiction ? Who else collects Bugantics and or Pur Sang and or French and or Australian club magazines ? What are the best to collect: British/American/ .... ?
