I wanted to start compiling a list on (semi) fiction books on Bugatti and Bugatti related persons.
I am sure other forum members can help.
The first 2 I own and I like them, the 3rd is on my wish list and wil be there soon I guess.
Who can add titles to this list. Maybe it is worth a separate section in the literature photo section.

So here's a start:
1) The Bugatti Queen, By Miranda Seymour
2) Early one Morning, By Robert Ryan
3) The Grand Prix Saboteurs, By Joe Saward

regards, Bart

In Shalimar the Clown (2005) by Salman Rusdie, the main character escapes from the Germans in the Bugatti 100P airplane. Does this count??

Just a short feature of a Bugatti car or plane in a story will do.

But I prefer Titles with more Bugatti influence and or reference to famous racers aka resitance heroes:

ESCAPE FROM PEACE by SCOTT-MONCRIEFF. was the one I was hoping that one of you would come up with. I forgot the Title but found it again today.

And maybe the story of Isadora Duncan is worth a mention too, but hisory has not decided if it was a Bugatti or a Amilcar's rear wheel in which her scarf got caught and kiled her.

So come on and let us make this list bigger.
And if you want tell us if you read one of the books and liked it or not.

Best regards, Bart

Just to add, a few comics:

Michel Vaillant: L'Affaire Bugatti

A comic by Waldo Trimpe, "Spitfire" published in issue 21 of "Pegasus". An 8-page comic on a special squadron flying Bugatti 100P - based fighters!

p.s.: The book by Salman Rushdie is boring, the part in which the Bugatti appears is Ok, though

I once received the first chapter of a book in which a Bugatti record car features. It appears that the rest was never written. I'll try to contact the author.

Product Description Norman Lewis was the best not-famous writer of his generation, and a better writer than almost all who were. From the 1950s to the 1990s, he wrote books that have survived better than all but a handful of novels. For twenty years Lewis spied for the British government, raced Bugattis before the war, lived in Ibiza after it, and was a crack shot, flamboyant host, and businessman with Mafia connections. Julian Evans' portrait is a fascinating personal account of a suburban fugitive and adventurer a writer of unsurpassed humour, wisdom and compassion for the ridiculous the Defoe of our times. 'Magnificent...meticulous, spirited and colourful...a triumph' - Jason Webster, "New Statesman". 'An excellent literary biography about one of the truly outstanding writers of our time...Sensitive and perceptive' - Patrick Marnham, "Daily Mail". About the Author Julian Evans is the author of Transit of Venus: Travels in the Pacific (1992), and the authorised biographer of the writer and adventurer Norman Lewis. He is a regular contributor to the Guardian and Prospect magazine. He lives in south-west England.

Finished Ryan's book last week: reads like a Thriller: enjoyed it. Lots of Bugatti content. But I think only loosely based on true happenings.

Then read Sawards's book: the complete opposite: a very factual, well researched book, as dry to read as a history book. No suspense, just lots of details and facts. Not much Bugatti content, just some references. Reading this book made me realise how much we should respect the resistance people for what they did and endured in ww2 - and for those who lost their lives.

I read Miranda Seymour's book a months or 2 ago. A beautyfull story - with a sad end. I really liked it.

all 3 above can be found on ebay from € 1,- to € 15-: If you have some time and cash to spare, you choose what you like best.

Tonight I will begin reading my signed and new unread copy "my two lives" by Dreyfus, which arrived today (a very lucky buy on ebay for € 30-). I know this is an autobiography and thus not semi fiction. But it will fit nicely after reading the books above. Maybe I should start searching for Phi-Phi Etancelin's book next..... anybody who knows of a nice copy for a reasonable price - please let me know

regards, Bart
