I wrote an email to Robert Ryan 5 minutes ago to ask him for details.
If he responds, I will post his reaction on the forum.

Bart-
Hi. Well it was true - it stalled for all sorts of reasons, mainly
becausue the company that bought the rights and a script went bust
(Granada Film - and it wasn't EOM that did it) and it passed from pillar
to post. It is now with Jack Bond, my co-writer on the script, but it has
enormous amount of 'baggage' ie start-up costs to clear the rights and pay
investors before it can even move along. Which is a great shame. To be
honest, I have stepped away from it - life is too short for the movie
business! Books are much more straightforward. (There is also a movie
treatment and a very good one for Empire of Sand, but that has stalled
too).
But thanks for your interest and yes, Peterson would be a dream (it needs
that big studio involvement to get it off the ground - ones who wouldn't
mind writing off tens of thousands of pounds just to get their hands on
the project).

Thanks again

Rob

Post subject:  Fictional Bugatti books.

Un autre "Roman" : "L'adieu a Bugatti" par Patrice de Méritens. Lettre a Bugatti trouvée au chevet de son frere Rembrant.

(P.S. Can anyone tell me how to put an acute accent on the "a" and "e" above?)

I was lucky enough to obtain a copy of LE LIVRE DE BORD D'UN PILOTE DE
GRAND-PRIX:TOME 1: GP 26 - 31 by André Etancelin last month. Due to a discription of the book elsewhere I thought the book would be in French and English language, but it turned out to be French only. I informed about this with the owner of the site on which the book was stated to be FR+GB and it was corrected to FR. No harm done: still a beautyfull book to have !

A few days later I went through Helge Hauck's Bugatti literature almanach (http://www.bugatti-club-austria.at/Alma ... eratur.pdf) and found out that a English translation exists (page 603), called A GRAND PRIX DRIVER'S (BUGATTI) LOGBOOK: VOL 1: 1926 TO 1931 by David Waldron (Imaginactif (F) 1997 , Pontoise (F)) ISBN 2 9508990 0. According to this almanach an additional booklet contains the English translation of the French Original.
If anyone is in posession of this translation: please send me a personal note if you are prepared to make a scan of copy for me - if there are costs involved please let me know.

For now I am waiting for my newest book to arrive: the autobiography of JP Wimille, a bientôt de revanche: I expect it to arrive by the end of next week. After reading Dreyfus's autobiography, Ryan's and Saward's stories on Williams, Seymour's story on Hellé Nice's life, I must conclude I am getting quite addicted reading these "personal account" stories...

If you wait for an autobiography by J.P. Wimille you will have to wait a long time since he died January 1949.

There is a new book published about advertising brochures through the heyday., posters of cars.
Jay Leno did an 11.45 minute interview with the publisher-with pictures..several unseen/rare bugatti posters.
even a letter from Clyde Barrow-of Bonny and Clyde bankrobbing fame-to Henry Ford praising his cars as faster than the police vehicles...
It is a signed limited edition...
On Leno's site in Book review
I have one on order
David.
This is a video and book thing...

Just finished readin David Scott-Moncrieff's "Escape from peace".
The book ends with plans for a trip by Bugatti to Portugal.
Did a search but could not find a sequel to the book mentioned above.
Does it exist ?
This bibliography does not mention it: http://openlibrary.org/authors/OL108331 ... -Moncrieff
