LARTIGUE, Jacques-Henri. The photographer who aristically recorded the French motoring and aviation scene during the first three decades of the twentieth century. He was born into one of France’s richest families in 1894, purchased his first camera in 1902 and had access to the upper échelons of society. Some of his best action photographs feature racing Bugattis. He died in 1986. (See “Lartique et les Autos” published in Paris in 1974 and “Jacques Henri Lartigue” published by Photofile around 1998). |
