Found this:

It is a lithographed tin container, featuring Type 35 GP car, with hinged lid that supposedly originally held a book by Gianni Machino.

When searching for this book I only found more tins - but never the book. So my question: was there ever a book ? Who knows more ?

Found more info:

Beautiful 1930's Lithographed Tin displaying a Vintage Type 35 GP car on the front and giving a synopsis of the life of Ettore Arco Isidoro Bugatti on the back. When it was manufactured, it originally contained a Biography of this legend of the Bugatti car design and a miniature rendition of the Type 35 car. The book and the car are harder to find than the container and all items are to now be considered RARE. The book was published in England by Armstrong and Claydon. This piece has a hinged lid, has been designed to look like a book on a shelf showing pages on the top and one side of this item. The body of this book cover (see photo #8) has a rectangular wrap-around construction, a method that goes back to the Civil War years. An exciting and unusual Tin for those who adore Collecting them and a piece that has a lot of history and an adventure of research ahead in order to find the other pieces that were a part of this amazing Collectible. Would be a great back drop with a miniature car collection.

MEASUREMENTS: Stands 7 1/4" Tall, has a 4 5/8" Width and a 3" Depth.

But I still have not ever seen the book nor the model that is supposed to accompany the book in the tin.

Has anybody else ?

Have an almost complete collection of books on Bugatti, but have never seen a book plus miniature Bug with this tin. Would be interested in photographic evidence.

If anyone in Europe wants to avoid the high shipping costs from the USA, I can offer one of these tins for sale.

For me the same. I have never seen it with a book. But, if it was just a tin can would there be name on it (Gianni Machino)? To me this suggests there is supposed to be a book with it.
