Hi,
My name is Ed Lloyd and I specialise in building, restoring and recreating 1932 Fords. Last year I bought the remains of a 1946 V8 Ford Sedan from Messerlis scrapyard in Gürbetal in Switzerland. I dismantled the Ford and recovered many good parts. However I found an interesting, well made water cooled intake manifold lying on the back seat which I couldn't identify. I considered throwing it out but just left it under my workbench for over a year. Recently while posting pictures of a rear crossmember I was modifying on an American forum, someone spotted the intake manifold under my workbench and identified it as a Bugatti.
If anyone can identify what it's from it may mean that that car was scrapped at Messerlis in Switzerland.

Can you take a picture of the complete manifold?

Also, do you have any more info on the car it came from (the backseat). Was that a barnfind?

I'll take a photo tomorrow. It has four inlet tracts widely spaced out so I suppose it's from a I8. The car I found it in was a 1946 Ford V8, an original since new Swiss car. The car had been sitting in Messeli's scrapyard in Gurbetal near Bern since before 1960. The manifold is just as likely to have been in the car as it was sent to the breakers yard as thrown in since. I will apply for the Swiss documents for the car which will give me the name and address of the last owner. I think the manifold might be a Type 44, but I'm no expert. Maybe someone here can tell me.
