57167 is recorded as a car invoiced to agent Monestier on 14th May 1934 fitted with "cond. Int" (saloon) coachwork. Sold to customer Cabaud.

David Sewell's 1989 UK Register (p.71) records the car with Roger Smith in Dogmersfield, Hampshire. At this time his stated intention was to fit a "replica" Atalante body.

Roger is heavily involved with Bugattis and has recently been preoccupied with the production of very high-quality new major cast components for sixteen-valve cars.

From memory I think he and his son were responsible for dragging Harry Carr's 57S out of its Gosforth hybernation and getting it ready for the press photographers.

Roger's 57 was listed on p.184 of the 2000 British Register (Cardy,Morris,Light) with the note that it was imported from Limoges (Central France) in 1986 but the status of the allocated chassis and engine numbers was "unclear". The car was still awaiting restoration and its promised coachwork.

On 21st November 2009 an advertisement appeared on the Jaap Horst website with a photo showing a totally unrestored car fitted with the wooden framework for a new Atalante body. Should you want a little project to play with try phoning the Hampshire (UK) number 01252 844112.
