I have recently added information to the page for 441021, detailing that the car was previously believed to be 44609. 441021 and 44609 were both sold new to Argentina, and at some stage 441021 lost its engine and was re-engined with that from 44609. However it retained its other major components, which retained the frame number 725. When imported into the USA, the car had lost its chassis plate, and the number 44609 was visible on the crankcase, so the car was assumed to be 44609. During my fathers ownership, the correct identity of the car was discovered, and a replacement chassis plate issued by the Bugatti Owners Club, as car no 441021. Not long after making the addditions to the wiki entry, user Bugatti69 deleted the page, re-issuing it incorrectly as 44609. I have now restored the page to its correct place as 441021, and deleted the entry for 44609, which does not exist. In summary, chassis 441021 (frame number 725) exists carrying the engine ex 44609. 44609 is not believed to exist. Daniel Hicks |
