Apart from the silly left hand drive, I rather like this body.I would be interested to see just what they have done to a T73c gearbox to make it suitable for this conversion. The gear lever on the T73c is well over to the right. As this is cast on the gearbox lid there must have been a major remake of the gearbox lid.The box is not at all strong enough for the torque of the T57 motor. And it is sanctioned by the BOC well theres a thing.

I feel hesitant about this car. I definately do not like it, although the wheels and chassis could nicely be used for a T59 replica...

I definately think this car is in a very grey area. Is it a Bugatti? How much "less" Bugatti is it than for instance the 57324?

Dear Herman, Perhaps the question should be this; If Jean bugatti had designed and built it ,would you then like it? I prefer it to just another fake T59. It is quite thirties German styling i find.

Let's put it this way then.

Given the circumstances in the late 30's, would Jean have designed this? (if we presume that Jean would like to design another car for the American market, to be sold in reasonable numbers) I think not, and for the following reasons:

The demands would be a cheap(ish) to produce car, appealable to the public.

-the T59 chassis is too expensive.
-the T59 wheels are too expensive.
-the T57 radiator is too expensive. (The T57S radiator is cheaper!)
-left hand drive?

I also do not feel the body is something that would have been designed by Jean Bugatti in the 30's.

It is a nice car, but my opinion is that it is not a Bugatti.

That is NOT what I asked,I asked whether IF JB had designed it whether you would like it.

I don't know. It kind of looks like a Lotus Seven. (which I do not like too much either, and which is definately not 30's).

If it were a JB design, I would definately consider it not one of his materpieces. Too flamboyant. If it were a F&F design, I could understand.

Less than this one... For some reason the lines of this car are not correct. They are all quick pencil strokes (too many) almost in the same direction. Almost...

This is for me an absolute gorgious looking car. all lines are right and beautifull made. I do not know if this is a 100% Bugatti but I should not care. :D

I agree with you!

You may like it or not, I prefer this above a replica T59. It stands out, is as original as a replica T59, and it can never be mistaken for (or deliberately sold as) an original!
