Post subject:  Replicas from the Czech Republik

Last sunday a Pur Sang driver showed me some photographs of a workshop in the Czech Republik, with at least 10 nearly finished grand prix chassis and an incredible batch of body- and chassisparts for the cars including cast iron frontaxles. Something to commit suicide.
Does anybody know more about it???

Hallo,
subject front axle comes back last time. So I would like to ask do you know the diameters for T35. I mean the cut, distance between pivots, distance between heart screws and depth of bending. Maybe sombody has got the technical drawings of it. It will be nice to see and know it.
Bye, bye

Did Bugatti build his axels from 2 parts ? This are castings , did he cast his axels ? Do you weld this 2 parts in the middle ? What kind of steel is it ? GGG ?

Dear Marek,

Can we conclude that you are involved in the replica building of the cars in the Czech Republik?

Regards,

Martijn

Hallo,
this picture showed the oryginal axel Bugatti T59. In T54 and T59 axel front was united with two symetric parts, but it wasn't weld for sure. In those days it was very popular that axel in GP cars (Sunbeam, Delage, Talbot) was consist with few parts, probobly the reason was to make easier the production technology. In oldest models of Bugatti this axel was made in one part. The photo below showed it the best. I think that hydraulic press is more usefull than welder. About the quality of steel, this problem was propoled in forum before, it was named as MH2, today it is 35HGS.
I mentioned those diameters of T43 and T46 because I see the relationships of proportions. I would like to know the exact diameters of axel front of T35 (technical drawings), perhaps somebody have got it and could throw it open. I think that it's not very difficult to reproduce this axel but it's nessesery to have the exact diameters and art spirit :D. I'm not involved to the project in Czech Republic but I'm interested in any projects of buildings Bugatti replicas. I know that it's work for years, for now I colect all information.
Look how easy is the axel of T73C.
Regards
Marek Jerzy

Hallo Greg!
I know the address of Bugatti Trust. That what I'm asking it's just small detal which I lost. I thought that somebody can help me, I undersdend that just not you. Has Ivan Dutton Ltd got the monopol for the axel front? Are there people who build themselfs? It would be nice to know them. I think that exchange of expiriences would be interesting. It is olso part of Bugatti idea.

There is a Bugatti patent describing the process. It is in many books. Basicly start with a hollow casting, then forge the ends shut.
