and if you can handle it . Piston blanks for 69 to 72 mm , specially made for Bugatti . You can machine any dimension you like . This blanks are cast in a preheated mold and 2 times heat treated . material
Mahle 124 , the best material for pistons today . Any questions ?

yes , this is the first mold we made for Bugatti . We make pistons from 58mm to 160mm .

Are you suggesting that you machine your pistons on a conventional lathe?

some engines have round pistons . But I do not make them round .

It is perfectly possible to make oval shaped parts on a lathe. However, you will need to rebuild your lathe somewhat. Udo already showed the principle in another thread. Inevitable play can be accounted for by tensioning the cross support with a spring.

Dodgy lathes should be refurbished, or tossed. However, even on a dodgy lathe a good craftsman can make accurate parts. As long as you keep all play to one side of your measurements and fixed points. Besides that, no lathe is free of a certain degree of play or backlash. Even with anti-backlash nuts. CNC programs take backlash into account when calculating the neccesary movements.
