Without massive help of VW concerning the EMS Immo CAN bus communication and missing traction control info it will be hard to get the engine even running correctly except if you design a complete new managenemt system around it.... Minime |

For sure a complete new managenemt system . Customer gets what customer wants ! If the customer wishes he can have a DB 601 engine or a 8 cylinder inline 300 SLR . |

today you can buy an EMS and just put the parameters like you want .For example with the 1980 V12 Jaguars , about 1500€ . |

Bosch, Delphi, Siemens, Marelli and Hitachi must be full of idiots. You better don't even try it if a 1980 V12 Jaguar is the most modern engine you ever looked at. For 1500 Euro you might get an EMS system but for sure none that is able to measure all your CAM signals, command the individual cam phasers control the turbochargers, emission control and so on. No way to get a Veyron or Galibier engine running correctly that way. |

As bad German ideas go, this must rate with starting a world war on two fronts! Why would you want to make a replica Bugatti Royale, powered by an enormous great VW engine - and then stick it in the back!!!??? I think problems with using an EMS from a thirty year old Jag would be one of the lesser worries! |

Nowadays systems have become so complex in terms of programming and calibration that it will become very difficult to keep these cars operational once they have reached the age of today's classics or oldtimers.  It's quite a difference to stick some Ford model T type ignition coils to a Bugatti T5 engine than trying to get a modern Veyron engine running with an aftermarket all-round engine management system. Just check the necessary sensors and actuators on that engine and you will see that there is no controller available on the market that could run it. |
