The Kellner Coach body has exactly the same appearance as the original, the fenders a lot less, being much flatter. I take that is intentional? Nice wheels! They look like Chrysler Atlantic's. but bigger? And your engine? It's long, V12 or V16? Will it be presented at Pebble Beach? Great how you put the (original size looking) radiator just a lot lower! Detail I don't like: The very high chassis rails at the front.... |

Thanks for the feedback. after a year of building this was the first time we had the car rolling so we could roll it out of the shop and stand back and see what we have created. Myself and a friend Ron Dyer are building the car we started a year ago. the body is fabricated in what is called the cold molding process,forms were set and a foam core 1/2" thick was shapped over them then 7 layers of CARBON FIBER CLOTH was applied. the forms were removed one at a time and 7 more layer of CARBON FIBER was applied to the interior. we have used approximatly 200 yards of material so far and not done yet.the A and B pillers are fadricated out of 3/16" steel and boxed. DETAILS 169" wheelbase 24" rims 35.5" tall tires (150MPH speed rating) 702CU.IN. 11.5 liter V12 ( THUNDER 12) 51IN. to the top of the grill shell from the ground The fenders have been widened to the inside to make room for steering(the tires are 13" wide) Front frame rails will be cut to shape after frontbumper is fabricated. Thanks for the input good or not so good. Our vision is to produce a street rod that pays tribute to this magnificent car while being able to be enjoyed by many.

If you want to bulk up the carbon fiber, try and source some carbon fiber multiaxial (non crimp fabric) which can be much heavier, reducing the price per pound drasticly. It also saves you from quite some labour. Another thing is that you should not mount metal parts directly onto the carbon fiber. Especially with moisture the metal can dissolve quite rapidly. (not a major concern for a car in a dry climate, but over here it can be problematic.) Isolate the carbon fiber with glass fabric, or use plastic bushes. |

We isolate the steel in a high density epoxy filler before we put the epoxy impregnated Carbon FIBER on. I looked at that material but decided on the plain weave with a multi cross layup to transfer stress evenly.but thanks for reminding me I can use the fabric in some internal areas. We entered the car in the Chesapeake Va. Shriners show Saturday great responce and turns out large BUGATTI fan base.

It might not be one for the purists, but anyone with even an ounce of automobile fabrication knowledge should be able to appreciate the workmanship that appears to have gone into this. Even the great Ettore was able to acknowledge others. Infact the purists should be very happy..... these guys aren't rodding an original. But they clearly enjoy the shape & beauty of the original. As a bit of a street rod enthusiast myself, I commend your work. Interesting idea to use carbon fibre to lay-up both the inside and outside of the car, rather than the traditional rod method of glass outer and steel or timber inner. Is the engine from a Viper? |

Indeed. It is not called a Bugatti, there are no Bugatti parts in it, and no BS story is being made up to make it into a Bugatti. I like it! |

I'm confused I thought the WHIRRING sounds was from them enjoying the fact that even a blurred mirror image of his 80 year old car still creates great joy and excitement in others.no sarcasim intended just enjoying this great venture. The engine is a 1960-65 GMC 702 CU. IN. done by THUNDER V12 Thanks again for your feedback |
