I wouldn't call it a Bugatti . Just look at the engine .

It is a straight-eight.

Do you mean it does not have the straight-cut lines? Neither do the Brescia or the 5 litre Garros models!

The T101C Exner was the last one that officially rolled out of the factory, The chassis of course, the body was Exner design built by Ghia.

Colombo designed for Ferrari, those are Ferraris. The design for Bugatti is Bugatti. Who pays gets the name.

Design made in Baden-Baden??? Please explain. Exner was an American, Ghia is in Italy, the T101 chassis was done in Molsheim.

Lepoix

Where is this one drawing now? still, the Exner T101 was designed in the US.

Pity the rest of those Lepoix designs for Bugatti did not survive. Interesting "What-If"'s.

So you worked with him? On car design or something else?

Some of the 50's drawings are shown in the book by Bellu. Would be interesting to see / publish them all. As you may know by now, I have a special interest in the post-war efforts to get Bugatti going again.

Are you still in contact with FTI design?

I had discussions with him , about a new design for the intake and exaust . Rotating valve - water cooled with a integrated water pump .He had a great interest in technical things like windmills , electric cars and so on . He made a electric car with name Goliat , 35 years ago . Today I have no contact with FTI design .

you should tell me more about it

What kind of drive train is in the T101C Exner ? Chassis ?

Exner 101 looks impressive , but technology from 1933 in a car made after 1950 is a no go . 57 engine and gearbox was not very good in 1933 in 1950 almost scrap . For 1950 , the drivetrain needed to be improved and changed a lot , but I am sure there was no money for it .

to my mind the Exner bodied type 101 is just an embarrassing piece of Detroit dream styling.
I wouldn't agree with you in your opinion that the Type 57 engine was no good even in 1933- in fact I cannot think of a better sub 3.5 engine available in its class at the time apart from a 2900 8c Alfa, which was aimed at a more rarefied market. Beautiful to look at and giving up to 250 bhp in supercharged form. Not many cars doing that in 1950.

As for the drivetrain, it was good enough to win LeMans in 1937.

Take a few 57 engines and gearboxes apart and investigate them . Compare it for example with the Salmson twin cam engine and gearbox .
To win LeMans , how many times , one time ?
I think Ferrari 10 times - Audi 13 and Porsche 15 times .

For a Bugatti expert there are quite a few gaps in your expertise. We all know how many times Bugatti took part in Le Mans, and how often they did win.

Last time competing was in 1995!
