original vice is not easy to get and a little to expensive for only a vice . Reproductions can be seen immediately. Better use a original and modify it in to a casting model .

But - if you cast from an original you will end up with a part that is at least 1% smaller before you have even got into cleaning up the casting to the nice quality finish of the original, so stictly speaking you might as well start with a new pattern with the tolerences built in.

Or stick sheet wax to an original. It is made specially for that purpose.

Today you can buy material for making casting models especially to compensate the shrinking . For example , company Ebalta . With cast iron it is easy .
