Hi Steve, and thank you for your reply.
It would be a pleasure to have a look at your your drawings, can you please send them to my email -emanuelevanzetti at hotmail.com-
I am currently busy with university, but perhaps this summer I'll find some time editing them, if it can help.
In this link: http://members.optusnet.com.au/barberdeb/ you will find some model engine building articles by E. T. Westbury, who certainly was a master in model engineering, so to have a reference to how building articles can be written.

Apart from this, I have some questions for you.
Can you please tell me something about building the crankshaft of your Bugatti? I think that assembled shafts are great, but always wondered on their stiffness and asked myself how much interference there must be between crankpins and webs, and most of all which kind of jig you have to make to get correct alingment when pressing together the pieces.

Thank you and Best regards
Emanuele

Hello everybody!!

I just wanted to let everybody know that the project is not dead. Work has been out of control. I also went to some training classes that took 16-10 hour saturdays and many week nights.

I have made some radical design changes. This will allow for water cooling of the block and head. This will require new cylinder sleeves, pistons, and rings. I will be able to modify the original head and cylinder section. The water pump is the tough part but i will figure out something. The path for the water will take the path of the real engine so i am happy about that. When i get these things worked out i will start back to making parts and posting photo's. I realy miss being out in the shop.

Welcome back, Steve!

We missed you. Glad to hear the project is still going, althoug at a lower rate. Quite dramatic design change, but probably worth the effort. Keep us posted!

Hello everybody!!

When I started this project I set out with no machine work experience, cheap chinese equipment and no design or build experience.

Nothing has changed! Just kidding!

I have learned alot about model engineering over the last 3 years. I have learned that a water cooled engine is possible, that a crankshaft of one piece, a sleeve bearing of bronze and bevel gears driving a blower that functions is possible. Starting one week from now I plan a complete redesign of the Bugatti project that would include all of the above.

My friend and Bugatti nut, Mr. Pierre Ollier passed away nearly 2 years ago. This build was inspired by him and sadly he did not live to see it run. I hope to find a way to redesign and build this project to a high degree of quality that i think he would be proud of. Sorry this took so long but when he passed this build turned into something that required higher quality.

This V4 engine was the practice engine that would lift my skills to a level that I needed to be at to get to my goal with the Bugatti. I have added 3 years experience, and a high quality milling machine to my tool box and believe I have what it will take to produce a nice looking, RUNNING engine. With the V4 out of the way I think It's time to get back to the Bugatti project and make something very special for Pierre!

Nope! That engine was built by Bob Shutt from Ohio. I know him personally and email frequently.

This is mine

Looking for 8inlinea!!!

I sent you some drawings for the bugatti. I was wondering if you still have the DXF (cad) files. I was modifying the cylinder block and destroyed it. If I could get the cad files from you It would save me a few days.

I never made contact so i measured and recreated the part from the scrap piece.

This is the new part with the water jackes and passages in it.
