The Cholmondeley's took delivery of their seventh Bugatti in 1939 : a Figoni and Falaschi bodied car painted black with yellow pin-stripes. It had distinctive primrose-coloured leather upholstery.

Whilst inspecting the family photo albums I came across a letter from the late Charles Renaud dated May, 1989 referring her to a model of this car which then owned. The model had been producted by a "french gentleman" without Renaud's permission but was "Very well executed".

Renaud sent an examples of this model to Lady Cholmondeley and to his friends Prince Napoléon and de Graffenried who had driven it in continental rallies.

Do any survive ?

Thanks. I will be going over to Cholmondeley Castle next week, I'll try to see if they've still got one of the models.
