Zoom, I was only able to find one photo of a T50 firewall and it appears that it has about 68 "turns" between the widest points of the body. Your 1/8th scale model firewall is about 4 1/2" wide, divided by 68 gives a "turn" size of about 1/16". However, the T50 firewall was handscraped, not engineturned. Using a 1/16" wide steel scraper on aluminum should replicate the finish. For an engineturned finish, put a small maple dowel in a Dremel and, using auto polishing compound, apply to polished aluminum. Using this method by hand using a rougher grit, might - I haven't tried it - replicate the handscraped finish. Experimenting with different polishing grits, metals, and turning materials pays off in the long run. Pico

Also the second book of Gerald Wingrove has a description of a method of replicating the scraped and engine turned finish.
