Hi Bugattitude

If I'm not mistaken it's a guy called Malcolm Woolley. Have a look in Wiki at 46184, it's one of his, and he also has a T35. From what I hear he's apparently a very nice guy, and quite generous with his cars; he took an acquaintance of mine out for a high-speed run in the T35. Guy's never been the same since. If it does turn out to be Mr. Woolley please ask him if he knows anything about a Free State T43 owned by one T. E. Fonternel. du Gann identified the car (black & white OB registration) but had no success in contacting him. I'm at work at the moment so I cannot get hold of the chassis number until I get home - will do a post then. 3 original Bugattis in one day? You lucky, lucky b........d.

Have fun!
Johan

Will certainly check it out, Johan. I've seen a pic of that OB Bug somewhere before. I was told it belonged to a farmer in the Bloem area.
Ironic ! No oranges, nothing's free and it's in a helluva state !! The old OFS. lol....but, it has a Bug !!!

I'll take lots of pics ,especially chassis no's !

A lot to reply on in this thread:

About the T59: Indeed it is larger than it should. I should measure it up to get to an actual scale. Probably between 1:15 and 1:16. Why do model car makers scale for the box?

About the Bauer Royale 1:18. I got a message today stating it is postponed to at least after Christmas, probably January 2009.

About the Al and Ruby 1:18 Le Mans tank: No, it is not what Jaap shows. What I mean is a real scale model, not a toy. I will check to see if I have pictures. If I have, I will post them.

It even already has an album on the photo server, with one (small) photo in it:

Oy vey !! It looks like a stunner ! Tks for the link, Herman.

Seems Bauer are pulling the same moves as our friends at AutoArt !!
The Production Veyron is over a year late and the pearl / ice blue that I want has only just been released.....and at ZAR 200 more than the others !!!...making it ZAR 1790 ! Highway robbery !!
The collectors who put those scavengers on the map are now paying the price for owning their models !
What was it Gates said: "Life isn't fair, get used to it!"
I'm trying, richest man on the planet, but it's darned hard !!!! :(

Just added what I have. (3 more pics, showing the construction, but pics are utterly small...)

About AutoArt / Bauer. I guess you are right. In my view: Expect to wait another 4-6 months at least. The Chinese are (in our view) pretty unscrupulous. They will just say: Yes mr. Bauer, your models will ship the 2nd week of Januari. Then in Januari it will be: We will not be able to ship in Januari, it will be the first week of April.

They can really drive you crazy. But if there were no Chinese, there were no high-quality, high volume models at all...

Hi,

the model is also available at www.autoshow.at (under 'Ruby'). Personally I don't think that it is worth the money. It looks more like a big 1/43 kit than 1/18...

Regards

I spoke to the guy who made the castings for Ruby, and he told me there was also an upgrade with seperate hood and engine.

The car was a limited edition run of 25 pcs.

The scale lends itself for superdetailing...

There is also a model in 1:18 of the Veyron, by MR Collection. Costs a lot of money...

Indeed, pricing is, uhm... let's call it "interesting".

I have not seen those models live, I see the wheels are a bit more realistic then AutoArt, but it is very hard to judge if those models are worth their money...

However, I think it is brave enough to construct a model in a scale where they are already readily available, in a very acceptable quality.

To those who has seen this model : The wings and rear cabin seem a little strange in the photos, as does the wheels, how does the actual model look?

I like models, but with my budget it's either books or models. I chose the books. That's life.
