1:18 Bugatti type 59 by Bburago (not 1:18, but 1:15 ...)

After a discussion in another thread I measured the wheelbase of the Bugatti type 59 made by Bburago:

172,5 mm (approx)

The original has a wheelbase of 2600 mm, so dividing those gives us a scale of:

1:15,07 (approx)

A very nice scale, as the Bburago 1:15 type 59 will display nicely between your collection of Wingrove models...

Another nice fact: The first 1:18 model by Bburago (The Rolls Royce) actually is 1:20 (or at least they put 1:20 on the box...)

Now I have a precision 1:18 from CMC, a 1:22 from Solido and a 1:15 from Bb !
Did I mention somewhere that I only collect in one scale ?? :lol:

Easier to do as I do: collect only scale 1:24 or bigger....

Though my collection is "dead" at the moment, and I think of ending it...

Jaap, if ever you have the unlikely urge to sell off any of the 1:18's I'd be most interested.
Be a priviledge to own some Jaap Horst originals :wink:

If I was not this involved in a number of scale forums, I'd probably give it up as well ! :cry:

The prices on some of these models is getting way out of hand and if not curbed this hobby is going to join the history channel !

Well, it's not just the money, there are ways to get the miniatures at reasonable cost. Sometimes Ebay can help in that.

It's just that I don't have the time, and lost most of the interest. There's a lot of unbuilt-kits still waiting..... As far as Bugattis are concerned, I have sufficient other activities; The Bugatti Page, the Bugatti Aircraft Association and the Bugatti Revue, plus the occasional Book and CD Rom (two more books are planned, no more CD Roms, as Herman's foto server now has more photo's than I can put on a CD!). The first CD Rom was made in fact because of lack of server space (I couldn't put all the issues of the Bugatti Revue anymore), and as a way for my readers to overcome slow downloading of the pages with many photographs. Both problems are now virtually non-existant.

You can find some of my miniatures on this list: http://www.bugattipage.com/mybugs.htm, though it is in fact quite old, and quite a few miniatures have been added after that. Nothing special in 1:18 scale.

Same goes for my DVD. Internet quality and this site have made it obsolete.

Besides that, the site will not even fit on a data-DVD anymore... I could use a double layer DVD, but that will cause trouble with buyers that have older equipement.

I am still transferring my DVD-contents to the site. Still a lot more to come.

About collection models:

I use a simple, yet effective approach:

-make a wish list. This site should help in that.
-set a maximum for each model.
-create a search on Ebay, which mails new items.
-use Auctionsniper for placing your highest bid at the latest possible time.

Usually your high bid will be too low, but sometimes you are lucky.
This way you:

A. Do not get carried away by the bidding process
B. Can not forget about the auction
C. Do not be awake at night to place your bid at the latest possible time
D. Do not give other bidders the possibility to react on your bid.
E. By subscribing following my link give me 3 "free snipes" which is highly appreciated.

By the way, only succesful snipes cost money (a ridiculously low percentage of the bid). All snipes that were too low are free. No cure, no pay.

My turd world country does not allow foreign exchange purchasing without one helluva rigmarole ! I literally need permission from our Reserve Bank Governer to buy on eBay !!

Well, just bought a Veyron in 1:18 scale, for only 2 euro, any Interest? There were more, blue, black and yellow.

Includes interior, spoiler, friction motor an lights!

In fact, exactly the size of tthe AutoArt one..... The shape isn't bad at all.

Yes, fully plastic. Appears to be a copy of the AutoArt. Body seems Ok, details sometimes terrible.

Would be nice to make a crash-scene, probably.

Sorry, the back one is the cheap one, the red/black one is the AutoArt....

And, they didn't have red, just blue, black and yellow (one color only).

Could make a nice base though, to cut two in half and make a saloon??

Don't you think this is becoming a bit of a cheap forum....

Nice gesture though, against all of the multi-hundreds of dollars miniatures!

And.... That was the intention of model cars, to play with... Original toys can now fetch a lot of money. Especially the ones that are mint, most of the toys have been played with, damaged or thrown away.

So, I will invest in this Toy Veyron, probably better investment than the stock market..
