The public Information found on the Web was specified on wiki.

To answer a phone call of an owner of bugatti which knows well the author of the suppression of the cards on wiki, another Bugatti owner, information specifying the name of these owners on wiki was removed to respect their wishes.

The owner of a car called bugatti69 to make threats, sending lawyers etc.

I called the owner, but he refuses to talk to me at all. I think this is all very childish.

If this is the future of the WIKI then I will shut it down.

This is the second action within 5 days, and although I feel these cases are connected, I am getting fed up with it. The information on the WIKI is gathered from public sources, and the WIKI just serves as a central hub for the info.

I do not care if some French idiots want to try and fool the tax department of their country, but not over my back. If you have the guts not to pay taxes, also have the guts to take the consequences.

Dear Herman please, please do not distress yourself. You are doing an excellent job and we all appreciate it very much. There are always those who criticize the work of others,Hugh Conway once told me " it is always those who do the least who criticize the most" Mr Frenchman has I am sure no real cause to complain, and if his car is misrepresented then he has only to prove the erreur and I am quite sure that you will correct the entry. He cannot of course object to the fact of the entry however much he may wish to do so.cheers John Barton

The thing that upsets me the most is that this prick refuses to even talk to me on the phone. However he is brave enough to dig up the telephone number of Christian, call him and bother him.

If someone or a chassis number is mispresented, I am more than willing to make changes, and the most amusing: THE WIKI CAN BE CORRECTED BY ANYONE. / TOUT LE MONDE PEUT CORRIGER LE WIKI.

A third person is making problems now. If this continues, I will need to think about the future of the WIKI.

One option, and I am very tempted to do so, is to restore all pages in their former glory, and have them printed as "World Bugatti Register". Needless to say the French tax dept. will receive the first copy, with 3 post-it notes sticking out.

Second option is to create the new website, although plans are premature, and I would not wish to rush things.

To get hold of Christian's phone number and to then threaten him is crossing the line.

Herman and Christian, how do you want to go on from here? What do you wish to do? How can we help?

I do not believe in giving in to bullies, but if there is even a merest suspicion that Christian may be in danger, then perhaps Wiki should be taken off line. Bugatti history is not worth the life and health of a person.

This entire thing is getting out of hand, and I worry about Christian.

Whatever you decide we will abide by.

Take care, please.
Johan

Christian

traduction Babel Fish:

To understand these problems, in French Ci to be clear above:

The first which intervened to remove cards, had not only removed that relating to it, but also those of the other owners of bugatti, who since appeared by phone calls.

Not understanding its reasons, having guessed them later.

He did not want that his name appears, like for the two others, He reacted brutally by erasing all these cards radically.

Since being itself all three expressed this day, to ask not to appear on wiki. The names of the interested parties were removed for the first and the second, and card-indexes it removed on the insistence and the threats of the third.

First accepted the modifications provided " PS" that is to say removed. Apparently it would be Replica, but not a PS.

The second was pleased that its name was removed for 3 bugattis relating to it, with as much more than there was an error for the one of them of which he was not the owner. The error since was removed.

The third does not want, the mention of its name and the card concerning its bugatti, appears on wiki for reasons which are personal for him and which I do not have to discuss. The card was removed.

I deplore these brutal reactions, where there no was preliminary discussion. But I thank the first to have ended up making known his wish and the modification requested which was made at once.

Dear Herman and Christian,
Although new to this forum, I would like to encourage you not to give up due to some hot air blown in your faces.

As John rightly noted, if the data presented in the Wiki is erroneous, then the owner has the chance to prove the truth. By ignorantly deleting it, he obviously does not certify himself of being capable and/or willing to do so.

Sending the Wiki to the French tax administration is perhaps less effective, but sending it to the departemental administrations who issue the licence plates and register cars, is.

Bon courage !

Herman, I don't think you should stop with Wiki (although it's your own choice of course). I agree with thingfish, they are blowing some hot air.

I'm not a lawyer, but I don't think presenting public information, which can be corrected if there is proof of an error, can be illegal.

If you stop with Wiki, I will start one myself. As Johan says "Bugatti history is not worth the life and health of a person.", that is correct. But freedom of speech is.

Regards, Jeroen

I have received new info, and for now, WIKI is gone. Too bad.

I would like to congratulate Mr Jean-Marc Laffont, Mr. Courteix, Mr Ariztegui, and apparently some 50 other Bugatti owners for their achievement. Well done!
