Last monday I had a meeting in Paris, with one of my suppliers. it was in the Mercure hotel, opposite to the "Port de Versailles" expo centre. When I entered the hotel, the first thing that I saw was a large painting of a blue racing car (approx 2x3 meters). Not a Bugatti though... Careful examination reveiled it was a Gordini. Gordini was a racing car constructor, producing mainly Grand Prix cars from 1945 up to 1974. Behind the counter, there were more (smaller) paintings. Also Gordinis. As I was walking through the hotel, there were even more. I started to like the hotel. Finally I saw a large sign, showing some history on Gordini, and a map of their workshop, which had been broken down in 1974, and the hotel was built in place of it. I was standing in the Gordini workshop!! I have made a photo of the Gordini workshop plans with my camera phone. Once I figured out how to transfer that to my computer, I will post it here. |
