Post subject:  Status Quo of this board

Since a long time I am "pregnant" with these thoughts, but I always decided to keep my mouth shut. Why? Because a lot of people may not like them...! However, I believe this forum finally has reached a point where critics cannot do harm anymore, and I'm afraid that it is also too late for serious rescue attempts. I am no. 49 by registration date, and no. 19 by number of postings, which hopefully underlines that I am definitively interested in the future of this board, if not - I indeed would keep my trap shut and remove the URL from my favorites....

For the first exodus of serious and competent members we have to thank Johan Buchner. I am aware that some of you, in particular Herman, will not agree, but there is no need to discuss this anymore as it is luckily history.

Another very critical point was - and still is - the Wiki. Not only because it was intentionally misused for creating fake histories for replicas, but also because some users spoiled it with not correctly researched information. Especially to name "bugatti69", who frequently added data which either had been found at some obscure places in the web, or even are based on pure assumption. Some people - including me in the beginning - tried to keep the Wiki clean and correct, but without success, as a serious discussion was impossible, mainly due to language problems, but also because of a certain lack of insight by Christian. I stopped checking the edit sources long ago, but my impression was that he considers the Wiki as his personal playground. Unfortunately "bugatti69" then also spoiled the photo galleries with nonsense data, which understandably was unacceptable to those who posted the photos.
And no, I will NOT correct the entries, firstly because I do not see any reason to donate my own researches to the public, and secondly because this would be a full time job. No misunderstanding, in regular board discussions of course I disclose my findings, because this is the sense of a forum - taking and giving.

The final "tombstone" was then set by "udolahr", who is disturbing this board in an absolutely unacceptable manner! I absolulety cannot understand Herman that he has not kicked him out already long ago!! The result now is that this forum has been faced with a constant exodus of members to the extent that "udolahr" has nearly reached the status of solo entertainer....! Where it makes no difference that the few survivers barricade themselve in the Dutch language section.

I am quite sure that this posting or even the whole thread will be deleted, but so what!? I doubted anyway the sense of such posting, so nothing really happened at all. This board is in deep coma, the question now is to bring it either back to life or to let it die.

Keep in mind that I sold the site about 2 or 3 years ago and technically I have nothing to do with it anymore.

My personal interests drifted and I am being kept busy by some less pleasant occupations at the moment.

I just misuse my admin rights from time to time to clean up some mess.

Good to know, however, I am somewhat surprised that you didn't informed the community here about that. At least I cannot find any posting on this topic going more than 4 years back. By checking the domain details I believe it's better not to deepen that discussion....

Do I understand you correctly that this forum is in anonymous hands, with a webmaster who never shows up, and that the de-facto-administator's interest in this board faded to an extent that anarchy is taking over the sceptre?

Fact is that since Herman sold the site and thus the Forum, I have not seen the new owner at all; I'm not even sure if he even has an alias at all?

Maybe some more effort from his side, would make the forum a bit more friendly to those who really want to contribute. Now, the forum has proven to be largely "dead" since Herman sold it.

I would post more myself, if I would not have my own sites to fill!

And: it seems that quite a few people escaped to Facebook, and are posting contributions there.

Dear Michael,

You are absolutly right about the misbehaving of some - so called - 'Bugattistes'. It has nothing do to with Bugattisme. Shame on them!

VLM!

Are these really photo's from the Trust, with the watermark removed? That is not so easy, and I can't see any trace of the watermark?

It may wel be that somebody else also has a copy of the photo; just the fact that the Trust put their watermark on the photographs, does not mean that they have copyright for the photos!
