Dear Marek,

Nice work - for a 1:1 model.
But if you ever want to use it on the road I wish you a skilled guardian angel by your side ... or better two. One for each wheel.

It seems safer than the axle sold to me as original, which was cast as a hollow axle ! I think in argentina.Probably long before Pur Sang was started.

Thanks for good wishes. I have good relationships with my guardian angle, we speak very often. It's nice when we speak essentialy on this forum. Nobody ask what is the material of this cast and what will be the next way of proceed. I think those questions are main to speak about the quality.

one imagines after all this effort that you use the very best steel for the casting. It is not necessary to ask.The point is [a] it is cast not forged and [B] it is not the way it was made by Bugatti.

Dear Marek,I am not against you for your excellent effort,I do feel though that as forged axles are otherwise available [solid from the Bugatti club for example]It does seem like a lot of unecessary work.I do realise though that sometimes the journey is more fun than the arrival.

I think Ivan Dutton is making the hollow axles again.

Very impressive Marek ! My compliments for your skills.

I wondered:
Did you calculate the various forces in the axle before you started ?
How does it compare in strenght to an original axle ?
Do you have data for comparison ?

Is this better/stronger because of better material (stronger / more pure alloy maybe) ?

Or will you test one axle in a test rig to determine if it is strong enough ?

I'm sure Marek used a sufficiently ductile casting steel. The problem with these axles is not the strength, but the ductility; a wrought iron axle will bend in case of an overload, while a (brittle) cast iron will crack, something you surely do not want to happen at speed!

Howeve, modern casting steels have a ductility which is far improved compared with the "old" cast irons.
