The body is from a '37 car.

It really would'nt be all that bad if the body were to stay original and an updated drivetrain were installed. Shame is, that does'nt seem to be what's happening.

What a shame!!

Can anyone identify the origins and original chassis # this coachwork was from?

Originally from the January '07 issue of Hot Rod Magazine.

"One of [Mark Delong's] latest is a rare '37 Bugatti four-door. The rough shell has had all the original internal wood support structure removed and replaced with stainless tubing and sheetmetal, the A-pillar has been laid back 12 degrees, and a metal roof has been welded in. For a better full-fendered effect, the original fenders have been widened and running boards have been grafted in. Of course, the style will still be very flamboyant '30s European, but the heart will be hot rod, since the original drivetrain has given way to one pirated from an '04 Cadillac CTS-V. The owner is eager to get the high-class hot rod on the road, so the car is expected to be done for next year's Goodguys at Del Mar show."

As you can see by the front axle, the body is not the only original part incorporated in this Hot Rod.

I think not ! this could be a tube front axle quite common on hotrods.I wonder if this is the body from the car that came to me for a hydraulic conversion? The japanese owner bought the car at I think an auction in monaco and took it home to japan. The body came in for some critisism and was replaced with a copy of a motor show car [the dual cowl style ] I have looked in vain for my photos of the finished car but to no avail. They are here somewhere.I suppose it is better that the body lives on rather than being scrapped. In any event no Bugatti parts were left with the body.

Is the body a Galibier 2nd series? It seems that, as usual, another Galibier has been destroyed again.

Dear All:

The Bugatti hot rod is chassis no. 57595. It was an incomplete, unrestored Galibier and it has now been thoroughly destroyed.

Does someone know if some Galibier second series have managed to survive? I think not.
