Every Bugattiste should know about Jean Prick. Jean Prick, named after Jean Bugatti by his father, Guillaume Prick, is one of the most avid Bugattistes. Every year he has a booth on the "Interclassics" in Maastricht, where he displays a couple of Bugattis. Organised tours in the area also frequently make a visit to his house. Jean Prick became famous after some video footage, where he declared, with tears in his eyes, that he would do anything, probably even sell his wife, to own a Bugatti. It is this dedication, an his friendly character, that made him deserve the respect of many Bugattistes. Read here the story about Jean Prick, broadcasted in the Dutch television series "Showroom": Every year, a group of "Bugattistes", proud owners of cars bearing the legendary name of Bugatti, make a pilgroms voyage to Molsheim. This is the place where Ettore Bugatti lived and worked, and that is also the place where he is buried. Showroom (a Dutch television program bradcasted during the 80's) went to Molsheim in 1980 for this event. With a camera, and in a Citroën, not a Bugatti. It was there that we met Jean Prick, son of a legendary Dutch Bugatti owner. After saying that his whole life has been influenced by Bugatti's, Mr. Prick started crying. With his hat he wiped the tears from his face, and told us with a broken voice that he always had to cry when hearing the word "Bugatti". "Bugattis are my big love. I will do anything for that, and in later life, I hope to get a real Bugatti from my father." This last sentence was hard to hear, as Mr. Prick was having a hard time holding up his tears. A few moments later he told us that his father "disqualified" him because in the past, during a rallye, he ignored a red light, while doing 140 km/h (approx 85 mph). His father had hit him on the head, and told him that he would never drive a Bugatti again. Answering the question what he would do to own a Bugatti, Jean Prick answered, much to our astonishment: "Anything that is possible... I would even... well, one should not say that... perhaps even sell my wife for a Bugatti". Years later we met Jean Prick again. His father passed away, and Jean finally herited one of his Bugattis. However, in the meantime he divorced from his wife.
