I am a German Engineer , and I did ask a question .
It looks like there are 2 kind of Bugatti people .The ones who talk about it , and the ones who work with it .
The Bugatti Trust has no drawings about all this parts .I have much more info and drawings for the Type 5 compare to the Trust . Autocad 2010 can give me all dimensiones , but I need something over 10 cm long , like the shoe .

Dear Udo,Having spent all the morning trying to get a bugatti clutch to go together with every part struggling to stop me,I must say that I am one of the "doing" sort of Bugattiste. You must accept that British people have a strange [to germans] sense of humour. No disrespect is intended, but you must understand that to ask for Ettore's shoe size IS funny [for any reason] The throttle push rod seems to be about 10mm in diameter,do you not think? Can you not work from that?

I also work on Bugattis for a living. Does anyone know what colour underpants Ettore Bugatti generally wore?

Oh no!!!

This site became a "show your shorts" show.

I suggest on Retromobile to do things the opposite direction then: Wear your shorts OVER your trousers. This at least makes it clear who are regular visitors of this site... Just be careful for your pecker when zipping up...

About the differences between German, French, Brits, Welsh, Scottish, Americans and Dutch: Believe me, this gives me a permanent headache. Read the WIKI section.

----
Back on topic:

Based on conversations with friends and family my friend Pierre Habets, who made a bronze statue of Ettore, decided the shoe size would be somewhere between 42 and 43, or 283mm length for the shoe.

This might be verifiable by looking at other photos. Perhaps there is a nice profile shot somewhere. His length is known... (175cm)

Seeing where the shoes bend, they might be oversize, by the way. (which does not help Udo at all) I do not have similar shoes, but if someone has (preferably in the 42/43 range) can he make a profile shot of the shoe? (to determine bend cracks and their position) I do not feel that is a strange question, given the fact that people show their shorts here...

why not open a special Bugatti undies forum ?
and let's not forget special photo albums (with and without owners in them)

also one for shoes, jackets, glasses and mobile phone covers please !

Now seriously:  the only thing I would consider and to me is really related to Bugatti are the original watches - not those imitations we've seen here recently.

Don't forget baby strollers, water pumps, and other useless #$%^#@^that you will have to wade through when looking for fun stuff on Ebay.

Anyhow, Udo, I hope you will get some answers. (a feeble attempt to get things on topic again...)

The throttle push rod is 12 to 13 mm . I made the pedals first 12 mm later machined it down to 10 mm . It is not so easy to build from a picture . But I try to be as original as possible . I know for the most 1 or 2 mm is nothing . Especially in England , 1mm is still unknown . With Photoshop and Autocad ,a lot is possible in a Computer to get dimensions from a picture , sometimes with a tolerance from plus minus 1 mm . So to ask for the shoe sice was a serious question .

To keep things readable for the Brits:

12 to 13 mm: 1/2"

1mm: 5/128"

 :D :D
