It is not so easy to use centrifugal force to get the babbit in to the first bearing . Babbit bearings made with centrifugal force are much better compare to pure the babbit static .I use the same device for centrifuge and rough machining .

first spinning with maybe 50 rpm and heating it up , after the babbit is in and the temparature is OK go to 1000rpm .But there are some secrets . Line boring the front bearing . About 1mm has to go .

I hope that you have the correct Bugatti nuts for these main bearings Udo.

one of the motor experts did change the 7 mm studs to 8mm with modern nuts . I will use the 8mm studs but bugatti nuts . Do you have a foto how it looks original ?

all the nuts are traditional Bugatti castle nuts with built in washers.I probably have these all in stock.

Then it would not be a Bugatti Udo ! It would be an Udobugatti. The Bugatti club had some 8mm nuts made twenty years ago by a mistake. They may still have them.

OK, I will think about it , but Udobugatti sounds good . I like it , "The Bugatti club had some 8mm nuts made by a mistake " . The alluminium crankcase is a new one from England , but I had to make a line bore for the main bearings . Bearings diameter 69mm
0,15mm out of round . Can anybody tell me how to make a egg shaped line bore ?
