I have only now had time to look at Supercars.net's Retromobile Gallery, and, lo and behold, there is a photo of a black and cream T46 Semi Profilee. You know what, it looks suspiciously like the Bugatti previously known as the T50T Semi Profilee. Can somebody please confirm this is Evert Louwman's ex-Harrah Collection car. If it is I owe Mr Louwman an apology. After all, I did mention him in the same breath as I did the detestable Arturo Keller, Retch Lauren and that bloody Texan.

Will I never learn?

With something close to humilty.
Johan

Dear Johan,

The black and white car is a tyoe 46 with the chassis number 46136. This car is / was in possession of the Dutch car dealer Jaap Braam Ruben. The body is a recreation. The Louwman car is another car.. Probably still in the same colours.

One thing you are right about is that Evert Louwman does not belong in your list of Arturo Keller, Retch Lauren and the Texan. Both the type 50 and 54 he has in his collection where “American restored” before he bought them. Let’s see how 57221/2 (the Paris-Nice car) will look like when ready before we will give our opinion. This restoration is fully under his supervision.

About a year ago I was driving on the highway during rush hour around Amsterdam. On the other side of the road I spotted a blue original Alfa 8C from the 30’s taking part in a traffic jam arround 07:00 in the morning… 99% sure it was the Louwman car…. I heard it is his favorite car of the collection and he is driving it regularly. People driving these classics on such a way are on the top of my list of “real car collectors” ….

Best regards,

Martijn

No sooner said than done.

I hereby wish to withdraw my comments as they pertain to Mr Louwman. I regret any offence I may have caused Mr Evert Louwman and I apologise unreservedly for lumping him with ......... the others.

I do not believe I have ever been this delighted to be wrong. Respect Sir.

I am, alas, still not humble.

Kind Regards
Johan Buchner

I see Martijn has put you already on the right track. He beat me to it.
You indeed were totally wrong with your opinion about Louwman.
