1931 Type T37 - Chassis #37387

ex-George Rand Bugatti aka "Scrambled Eggs". Original engine #289 was replaced by a Ford Model B engine in 1935. (the Bugatti engine ended up in a Midget spring car for years)

Condition: Original paint, upholstery, accessories, patina with a few upgrades recently ala rims / tires / safety belts for safety reasons. It was parked for @50 years from when it ended racing in the ARCA series pre/post WWII.

Argument #1: It's a "bastard" Bugatti as it has a Ford engine in it and it should be removed. (hardcore Bugatti enthusiasts there that day)

Argument #2: "Leave it as is because it has been that way for 70+ years" -- why change it now? (myself and a few others)

Johan / Herman -- Feel free to push the attached images to the WIKI.

Here are a few digital pictures that I took at the Polo Field at Pebble Beach in August 2003. I'll post the 35mm slides later.

Leave it just the way it is. There are many original T37's but only one Ford engined one. Love the condition - I once read a description of a car as being "artfully buggered."

This time I agree with you Johan, worst that can happen to that car is that it would be "restored to original". The oil cooler up front ads is a nice feature!

Even with a Ford motor and some updated gauges to support the vintage racing of the owner, there are very few GP Bugattis as original as this one. While the seat cushions were re-upholstered two years ago, the current owner has no plans to do anything to it other then use it, enjoy it and leave it the way it is.
