How many people lost their lives in a Bugatti?

-Jean Bugatti (11 aug 1939, Bugatti type 57C)

Rene Chatard & Jeanine Vacheron died 25/08/1955 when Rene's Bugatti T57S Atlantic (57473) was hit by a train.

Here's an interesting question to be added to this thread : Who was the first person to die in a Bugatti?

Oh by the way Herman, Jean died in a Type (not type) 57G (not 57C).

To my best knowlegde the 1939 Le Mans car was a type 57C, the 1937 cars were type 57G.

Your books might state otherwise, and then I would be more then interested to know...

Interesting side question: What happened to the wreck of the car? I have read somewhere that they buried it?

Ah crap! I just assumed that all 57 Tanks were called T57G, but you are right, the one Jean died in was based on a T57C chassis, the earlier tanks were T57S based. You know Herman, every single time I start enjoying taking the moral high-tone with you, you spoil my fun with the correct facts. Most inconsiderate of you.

Apparently the car in which Jean died was cut up and the parts buried in the grounds of the factory.

Now I am going to go and sulk. Happy?

1) Stand to be corrected, but didn't Pierre De Vizcaya fall out of his Bugatti and die whilst trying to keep his dog in the car?

Another death in a Bugatti is Van Slijpe who died in 40471, if I remember correctly in the Mille Miglia. I saw the car in my home town when it was being restored.

first count czaykowski, then juneck, for he was one of the best customers
for bugatti in the 2o`s. and maybe the most famous: dancer isabelle duncan, who is said to have been stragled while driving up on the mountains of monte carlo, her scarf wound up in the rear wheel of her T35( or T37, i really forgot about that)

Ing. Felix Kortz died in a car accident in 1928. Bugatti isn't confirmed, but probable.
